Prince Darkey, brands Executive of TV3 in charge of the show, told ‘Spectator Agoro’ after a photo-shoot for the contestants, that this year’s edition would be more detailed in content and substance.
‘Unlike the previous seasons, we’re going to hold send-off durbars for each contestants in Accra, Kumasi and Sunyani between August 10 and 16th where chiefs or traditional leaders will formally hand them to us-the organizers.
“The idea is that culturally, you can’t go somebody’s house and take away his child without informing him “he explained, adding that by this “we would make the chiefs and our traditional leaders more involved.”
He said there would also be the inclusion of what he termed “Regional Weeks” where contestants would take turns to celebrate the culture and traditions of each region in their performance. “We hope to achieve what we’ve termed ‘cultural convergence’ with this”.
The GMB Season V will be officially launched on Sunday, August 21, at the premises of TV3.
